The Women's T20 World Cup 2024 was supposed to be held in Bangladesh but will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) instead. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the change on Tuesday.
The Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will still be held from October 3 to 20, but will now be held in Dubai and Sharjah instead of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is still responsible for hosting the event.
This decision has been taken due to the massive protests across Bangladesh.
ICC chief Geoff Allardyce is saddened that the tournament is moving from Bangladesh to the UAE. He feels that BCB must have done a great job and made the event very special.

It is a shame that Bangladesh will not be hosting the Women's T20 World Cup," Allardyce said in a statement. "We know that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have made it a special event.
I want to thank the BCB team for trying their best to make it happen in Bangladesh. However, some teams could not travel to Bangladesh due to warnings from their governments. So, it was not possible. But still BCB will be the host. We hope to bring an ICC event to Bangladesh soon.
Allardyce also praised UAE Cricket for agreeing to host the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup.
I would like to thank Emirates Cricket Board for hosting the event on behalf of BCB. I also want to thank Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for offering assistance. We look forward to hosting ICC events in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in 2026.
